1. Locate Moravian Falls
First and foremost let’s talk about how to get to the main event, Moravian Falls. Moravian Falls is located in the middle of Wilkes County North Carolina and sits along the Brushy Mountains.
2. Hike Behind Moravian Falls
If you love waterfalls you will know why it drove us crazy not being able to find a path to the top of the falls. This was a pretty hidden gem right above Moravian Falls.
We kept searching and searching for a way up, but couldn’t find a path. We ended up asking the camp manager if there was a path.
P.S. The camp is located directly across the street from the waterfall.
The manager/owner will not give anyone the location of the trail; unless they plan to spend the night at the campgrounds (which we did).
I respect the fact that he doesn’t want his trails overcrowded. For that reason, I will not disclose the location of the trail.
3. Camp at Moravian Falls Camp Ground
I loved the grounds of the Moravian Falls Camp. Even though the spots were a bit tight, the sounds of the river made up for it.
There was a secluded spot in the very back of the lot that we spotted. The owner ended up letting us rent it out for the night (this area had no water or electric hook-up, but we didn’t need it with our camper van).
Areas for water/electric hook-ups and spots for tents were offered. Whether you come with an RV, camper van, or tent; you will surely find a spot.
His cheaper sites were around $27 (some included water/electric hookups). Once you pay that rate he will show you how to get to the top of the falls.
There is also a fishing pond which is charged $5 per adult and $3 per child.
Both the upper and lower lots of the campground included a bathhouse and toilets.
There was a pretty sick-looking pool above the lower campgrounds but has been out of commission for several years now.
