Myrtle beach is one of the many locations to go scootin! This was a perfect area to ride because of all the sidewalks and shops. All we have to do is make sure our scooters are locked up if we ever leave them.
See our Disclaimer as we are not held responsible for any accidents or damage that may happen while scootering.
My only complaint was the COLD!! We went to Myrtle for Thanksgiving, so it was windy and about 40 degrees.
If you ever take these electric scooters out in the winter, you’ve been warned! Get some good gloves and a warm hat.
Cherry Grove Fishing Pier
We stopped here for quite some time while out scootering. While visiting Cherry Grove Fishing Pier we saw dolphins and people surfing. It was the perfect stop for a picture! It costs about $3 per person to get on the pier, and we had to leave our scooters behind while we walked to the end.
Hog Island
At the end of North Ocean Blvd is a pretty sweet walking trail that will take you to Hog Island (or pretty close to it depending on where the tide is. We went around 11 in the morning and it was too high to get across.
We rode the scooters only to the entrance of the trail because, well, our type of scooters you can’t take in the sand. Yes, we tried even though we knew we would fail. The front end dug into the sand while the back end proceeded to hit my ankle, OUCH!
But it was a pretty fun walk through a desert like terrain, and we took some amazing pictures.
The hike was about 1/2 mile to where Hog island was. It was a fairly easy hike, but the dry sand was a little hard to walk in. In the picture above I almost twisted my ankle a few times because of the uneven ground. Other than that the hike wasn’t too bad.
Good scooter spots near myrtle
Before you decide you want a scooter, I would recommend looking up scooter laws. Some areas like New York have a ban on them. (that doesn’t mean people don’t have them still). This is a whole nother blog post, and I will cover that later.
Around Cherry Grove we didn’t have problems with any anti-scooter laws, however that doesn’t mean there aren’t laws in place. I would suggest you look up some scooter laws before you decide to take a scooter here.
We didn’t see any of the typical Lime or Bird scooters that you can rent, but you could always take your own. Here are just a few places we rode our scooters.
The Boardwalk
Around town anywhere that has a sidewalk (which is basically everywhere)
Broadway at the Beach (we actually didn’t try this area, because we were pretty sure we would get kicked out)
Just keep in mind that it is similar to riding a bike and to respect all rules of the road, and yeah, wear a helmet.
Let me know in the comments if you have ever used electric scooters, and where you used them. I would love to know!
