Koko Crater

Koko Crater, or Kohelepe‘e, is an extinct tuff cone that erupted over 10,000 years ago and is one of Oahu’s greatest crater attractions.

The hike to the summit spans about 1.8 miles and is quite strenuous, involving a steep climb up an old military railway.

Located on the southeastern coast of Oahu, this hike rewards you with spectacular panoramic views of the island and the Pacific Ocean.

Punch Bowl Crater

Punch Bowl Crater, also known as Punchbowl, is a volcanic caldera that now houses the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

The hike around the crater is approximately 1.5 miles and is relatively easy to moderate in difficulty. You can also drive your car if you are not interested in hiking.

Ka‘au Crater is a large volcanic formation with lush ridges and impressive crater views in Oahu. The hike is about 4.5 miles and is considered quite challenging due to steep climbs and sections of rock scrambling.

Ulupaʻu Crater

Ulupaʻu Crater is a lesser-known volcanic formation that offers a unique hiking experience. Since the area is housing the Marine Corps you will need to ask permission by gaining a key and radio.

The hike around the crater is approximately 2 miles and is relatively moderate in difficulty. You will come across steep inclines with dangling ropes for grasping. Beaches and views are promised along the hike despite it’s rough terrain

Located in the central part of Oahu, this hike provides a peaceful retreat with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and a chance to explore a quieter, less-traveled area of the island.
