Lake Jocassee is a fairly remote place, but it’s an area you surely want to discover. The waterfalls flow directly into the clear blue lake, so you won’t want to miss that. You can even snorkel and chase fish because the water is so clear!
You will need a place to stay while you are exploring the area. Even though there aren’t huge towns nearby, you can still find a great place to stay! Some great places to stay near Lake Jocasse are:

Airbnbs to Stay Near Lake Jocassee
As I said, Lake Jocassee is fairly remote, so you won’t find too many hotels or cabins on the lake unless you want to stay at a campground (we will go over that later!). There are a few Airbnbs at your disposal.
With a little bit of driving you will find yourself a great vacation destination with Airbnb.
1. The Meadow
The Meadow is a 1-bedroom and 1-bathroom cabin that sleeps four people. This quaint little cabin rental near Lake Jocassee is perfect for couples or small families.
You will have full access to a washer and dryer so that you can keep your clothes clean after your adventures. No need to worry about finding the scarce amount of restaurants around Lake Jocassee because you have a kitchen you can cook all your meals.
Kick back after a long day of kayaking at Lake Jocassee and enjoy the Wifi and cable TV.
Cost Per Night: $100
Miles from Lake Jocassee: 6.5 miles
Amenities: Fully stocked kitchen, A/C and heat, Cable TV, 2 beds, washer and dryer, Private Balcony.
Accommodations: Sleeps 4 people
2. Dome Away from Home
If you want to stay somewhere different and romantic, try the Dome Away from Home. This place is near Lake Jocassee, though the mileage wasn’t clear.
This dome-shaped hideaway is the perfect stay for couples and small families- it only has 2 beds, 1 bedroom, and 1 bathroom.
Watch the sunset over the mountain view located directly outside the huge windows! After that, kick back, and relax by watching the provided HDTV with Roku. Need to check your phone or make a call- no problem, WiFi is provided.
You will have access to a kitchen with a fridge, stove, coffee pot, and cooking utensils.
Cost Per Night: Starting at $86
Miles from Lake Jocassee: Unclear
Amenities: Fridge, stove, WiFi, TV with Roku, outdoor dining area with fire pit, outdoor furniture, BBQ grill.
3. Black Bear Lodge
If you want to be directly on the lake with just a short hike, the Black Bear Lodge is perfect for you. The lodge is located uphill from Lake Jocassee, with a dock located a few flights of stairs from the cabin. I hear the stairs are a doozy, but a chill-out hammock is provided halfway down for the tired and weary.
On top of the lake view, you have a gorgeous mountain view you can enjoy from the patio or from inside the log cabin-style Airbnb.
This cabin is located directly on the lake so you don’t need to worry about hauling your boat or kayaks to Devils Fork for access. Although, if you want to get to Devils Fork for whatever reason, it’s only a short boat ride away.
The only downside to this amazing cabin rental near Lake Jocassee is no WiFi- I guess it’s time to bond with the family!

Miles from Lake Jocassee: Within walking distance! Lake Jacossee is right in your backyard.
Amenities: Hammock area, patio,
Right on the lake, nearby dock, large kitchen with appliances, standard tv with cable.
Hotels Near Lake Jocassee
There aren’t many hotels near Lake Jocassee South Carolina, and the ones you can choose from are about a 40 min drive from the lake.
If you plan on staying at these hotels, you may want to take an entire day trip for just Lake Jocassee, that way it will be worth your drive!
4. High Hampton Inn
The High Hampton Inn is one of the closest hotels near Lake Jocassee, However, it is still a 41-minute drive to the lake.
You can enjoy your stay at the pool or freshwater lake when you stay at this inn! They provide kayaks, canoes, and paddles for a fee. If you prefer to stay on land, the hotel has hiking trails across 1,400 acres.
Enjoy breakfast and dinner as they are served daily! Ever wanted Appalachian cuisine? This place has it, so you can try it!
A minimum of 3 nights is required to stay at this hotel near Lake Jocassee. There are several suites to choose from- here are a few listed below, along with some pricing (prices are per night).
Standard Queen Cottage: $1,195.00
Standard King Cottage: $1,295.00
Cottage Double Queen: $1,395.00
Superior King Inn Rooms: $1,545.00
Miles from Lake Jocassee: 25.2 miles/41-minute drive.
Amenities: Kayaking, Hiking, workout room, dinner and breakfast, pool, freshwater lake, spa service, golf, tennis.
5. Highlander Mountain House
The Highlander Mountain House is a quaint little vacation rental near Lake Jocassee. Unfortunately, this lodge is an hour away, so prepare for a long trip.
If the above resort is out of your price range, try this lodge because it only costs $259 per night.
They have several rooms to choose from, including a Main house with standard queen rooms, a Tavern, a Bunkhouse, and a mountain house.
You can bring your furry family on your trips, but only if you stay in the bunkhouse. Now your pets won’t have to miss out on all the fun!
Each room has a TV and minibar stocked with local snacks. Wifi is provided at the lodge.
Cost Per Night: Averaging $259 per night.
Miles from Lake Jocassee: 36.8/1-hour driving distance
Amenities: TV, mini bar, cable, private balcony, stocked bathrooms.
Best Campgrounds Near Lake Jocassee
Lake Jocassee is known for its campgrounds, so whether you are staying in a tent, an RV, or a camper van, you can find a campground near Lake Jocassee!
6. Devils Fork State Park
Devils Fork State Park is one of the most booming places to stay near Lake Jocassee. Beware, you will not be able to book a last-minute site! You will need to book at least a year out unless you want to camp on one of their boat-in sites (boat sites seem to be available year-round).
Devil’s Fork is the only way to get into Lake Jocassee unless you have a rental that sits near the lake.
There are several ways to stay at Devil’s Fork State Park. You can rent a cabin right at Lake Jocassee- These are typically expensive and will cost several thousand dollars to rent for a whole week. Plus, you have no choice but to rent these lodges for a week. If you have a big group and want to stay directly on the lake, the lodges at Lake Jocassee are perfect for you.
If you don’t want to stay for an entire week, try out a campsite. You may even be able to rent a campsite right on the lake. These sites will range from $28- $63- depending on what you need. Tent sites will be cheaper, and sites provided for RVs and campers are on the more expensive side.

7. Jacossee RV Camp
Jacossee RV Camp is the best alternative for camping at Lake Jocassee. They offer tent and RV sites! They do not have a website- you will have to call them to book the site- here is their number (864) 380-5367.
Jacossee RV Camp and Devil’s Fork are the only two campgrounds around Lake Jocassee that provide bathhouses for those camping in tents.
We stayed here a few years ago in our camper van and loved it. The bathrooms seemed a bit old, but he keeps them clean, and the showers are fairly large.
You will find perfect areas to walk the dog around and an area for the kids to slide on a small waterfall in the creek.
I love how many of the sites seemed private like you were in your little yard on vacation.
Cost Per Night: $20 for two people, then $5 per extra person that stays.
Miles from Lake Jocassee: 2 miles/ 5 Min drive
Amenities: Bathouses, river and waterfall, power hookups, water hookups.
Odd Places to Stay Near Lake Jocassee
You don’t need to limit yourself to a campground or a lodge when it comes to vacation rentals near Lake Jocassee! Try a few of these areas out.
8. Free Camp in a Camper Van or Tent
Did you know you can free camp in your camper van in a national forest? We were considering this before we booked a stay at the campground. We were having a hard time telling the lines between state and national parks.
You can call the forest service to see if the area allows free camping or not. We opted out due to not having enough time to find a really good place to stay.

9. Stay in a Tree House
The tree house is a cool place to stay at Lake Jocassee, and technically it’s an Airbnb.
Bring your furbabies along on this trip because the tree house allows pets!
The tree house has everything you need to cook a great meal and eat it outside on the patio. When you are done, walk off your food by visiting Lake Jacossee, only a short distance from the cabin.

Miles from Lake Jocassee: It’s only a short hike through the woods until you reach the lake. Miles to Devil’s Fork State Park is .8 miles or 3 min driving.
Amenities: Lake access, Wifi, kitchen, pets allowed, washer, tv, heating, air, patio, grill.
10. Stay in a Tiny Home
So the Jacossee Tiny Home is yet another Airbnb. There are 3 bedrooms and 6 beds in this cabin.
You are only a short distance away from Lake Jocassee. The land has 13 acres- stretching across the land, is a little creek with apple, pear, and peach trees.
Relax at night by the fire pit and enjoy the stars!

Miles from Lake Jocassee: Right on the Lake
Amenities: Fire pit, lake access, kitchen, Wifi, washer and dryer, appliances to cook on, dishes, and more.
